Haven Baker is the General Manager and Vice President of Plant Sciences at the J.R. Simplot Company, one of the largest privately held food and agribusiness companies in the country. In his capacity, Baker is responsible for identifying and commercializing new agricultural technologies. He served as a senior scientist at the Barnett Institute at Northeastern University and later worked as an investment professional at Clarium Capital before joining Simplot in 2009. Baker received a B.S. from Yale University, a PhD in chemistry from Northeastern University, and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School. Baker grew up on a farm in Moses Lake, Washington.

As the founder and managing director of H. Barton Asset Management, Harris Barton manages two venture capital funds that specialize in providing capital to up-and-coming VC-backed technology startups and two funds of venture capital funds of the country’s top-tier VCs for total assets under management of $300 million. Previously, Mr. Barton co-founded HRJ Capital, a private equity, fund-of-funds investment firm. Mr. Barton became a private equity investor during an All-Pro football career that helped lead the San Francisco 49ers to three Super Bowl wins. In 2004, he and former NFL teammate Ronnie Lott co-founded Champion Charities, which has raised more than $11 million for brain cancer research and patient care. Mr. Barton holds a BA in Finance from the University of North Carolina.

Bruce Sherrick

Bruce Sherrick

Professor, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Dr. Bruce J. Sherrick, is the Marjorie and Jerry Fruin Professor of Land Economics, and Director of the TIAA Center for Farmland Research in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois. He was nominated by the President and Confirmed by the Senate to serve on the Board of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Association, or Farmer Mac. Bruce teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in applied finance, and financial modeling. His research is concentrated in the areas of risk analysis, crop insurance evaluation, farmland markets, and modeling of financial institutions. He also helped create and still maintains programs at the farmdoc and farmdocdaily websites, the award winning agricultural decision making support program at the University of Illinois. Bruce earned his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University with subject matter fields in Finance and Marketing.

Sid is the co-founder and CEO of Granular. He leads the overall team and vision, sets the strategy, helps build the brand, and ensures we live up to our commitments to our customers. Sid has built successful software and analytics businesses in a diverse range of industries including telecom, media, and restaurants. All of these companies have successfully helped customers use data, software, and analytics to continuously improve performance and make smarter decisions. Sid holds a BA from Trinity College and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Andrew Meyers

Andrew Meyers

Andrew leads Granular’s Customer Success Team, which is responsible for delivering Granular’s customers the best possible FMS experience. Before joining Granular, he owned and operated a California farm that supplied fresh market crops to regional suppliers, and has experienced the triumphs and challenges of farming. Andrew has also worked for other software companies, but has found that no other industry comes close to agriculture in terms of complexity and opportunity. Andrew holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and a BA from UCLA.

Mike Preiner
Co-Founder & VP, Data Science

Mike Preiner

Co-Founder & VP, Data Science, Granular

Mike is the co-founder of Granular and leader of the Data Science Team, which is responsible for helping customers make better decisions through data analysis and modeling. Prior to founding Granular, Mike co-founded Solum, which developed new soil measurement technologies. Mike has degrees in Physics and Applied Mathematics from the University of St. Thomas and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford.

Iris Shim
Product Manager

Iris Shim

Product Manager, Granular

Iris is a product manager at Granular and is focused on delivering financial insights to our customers. Prior to joining Granular, Iris was a product manager at Xero, a global cloud-based accounting software for small businesses. Prior to that, Iris spent two years supporting the Government of Ethiopia on national projects to improve smallholder farm production and profitability. Iris holds an MBA from University of California, Berkeley and a BA from Yale University.

Emily Short

Emily Short

Emily runs Granular’s Product Team, which is responsible for understanding customer needs and designing the right software solutions. Prior to joining Granular, Emily managed Growth and Product teams at Inkling, a company that provides tools to build interactive digital content for large publishers and corporations. Emily earned her MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and her BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Tamar Tashjian
VP, AcreValue

Tamar Tashjian

VP, AcreValue, Granular

Tamar manages AcreValue and AcreValue Pro — Granular’s farmland valuation platform. Prior to Granular, Tamar helped develop web and mobile products at Trulia, a residential real estate site that serves over 50M home seekers. She has previous experience in investment banking and strategy consulting. Tamar holds a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
